Individually prepared and portioned by the Pilchard Works in Newlyn, the last working salt pilchard factory in the country using the traditional screw presses and wooden barrels.
Before canning, the freshly caught fish are flash-fried according to a traditional process which has been used since 1853. The Pilchard Works uses fish caught from the waters around West Cornwall and often the pichards are caught within site of Newlyn, near Penzance.
Presented in a commemorative 100g tin which is now becoming quite collectable.
